Hey, guys - anybody know any details about the stuff in Seattle with the warehouse explosion that's not been in the news? I'm getting real tired of seeing the same footage on loop while the talking heads start spinning in circles talking about how it's potentially an example of rising mutant aggression.

I know this definitely not within the scope of eXcalibur's mission, but man. Man. It's no surprise FOX news is running the crazy train, but even like CBS and the other local channels are starting to spout some of that rhetoric.

It is good that you mention it. My friend Cara, who monitors trends in the news around mutants for an NGO, just pinged me about the uptick. People are starting to take this more seriously.

CNN's got some actual coverage. Mostly a reporter standing at the beginning of the cordoned off area complaining about how the alphabet agencies aren't letting her through or answering her questions. At least they're only looping over the coverage once an hour or so.

The papers today were not bad yet, but I am curious what they are going to be saying on Monday. Though I suspect it will be mostly contained to the opinion section for now.

Well, if it's acronyms that're doing the crawling, I could make a phone call to some former colleagues at SWORD, but that'd inevitably get back to SWORD's Director... my old handler at SHIELD probably knows something, but then I'd owe him a favor.

I just know that even with an image inducer and my best igaf attitude, I couldn't get within 3 blocks on foot. that's a big ass perimeter.

Not unheard of, though, especially with something like an explosion. I'm guessing there's still no word on what Shock's powers were? Jesus, that whole situation sucks. Not worse than anything else that's going on all over, but just. I really hope it comes out shock wasn't the 'cause' the way the media's making him out to be.

Yeah, I've got some friends teaching at UW, but I'd be hesitant to make contact about this sort of thing specifically. And obviously I don't have a US network beyond science-related and adjacent peeps, so. It's just. Looks like it might get kinda bad.
