Okay, so the good news is that, while Molly got eaten by an alligator, it threw her back up on command and, while eXcal's mangrove swamp-front picnic was ruined, we did find the ruins of an Atlantean settlement down in the FL Keys. Namor pulled something out of the ruins, he says it's some kind of recording device.
Bad news is a) Namor's never allowed back in FL again and the record (which is made up of some kind of crystalline structure) appears to be broken. Also, it needs a power source, but Team Science hasn't actually figured out how to power Atlantean tech yet, so.
What we're looking at now is trying to get the power source figured out - so anybody with any kind of technical or magical know-how is invited down to the Chapel starting tomorrow. We'll be trying to integrate some theories I've got with Molly's experience with Asgardian tech and maybe hopefully something magic to make it all stick together, so it'll be fun. Please note, that is very specifically beginning tomorrow. Updates'll follow as needed.
For now, eXcal wants to thank Kyle, Sooraya, and Alison for picking us up outta the middle of bumfuck nowhere, FL. Lifesavers, all three of you.
Oh, also, Molly's okay. She and America slept for most of the drive to the Blackbird. Didn't seem to be any ill effects from the alligator thing.
Realized I didn't actually put the reporting stuff in this report, so here we go.
Namor got a tip about an Atlantean outpost from his friend who lives in the aquarium and also the Chesapeake. He let us know and we (Me, America, Molly, Matt, Meggan, and Alani) told him we were going with. Clarice 'ported us into the FL Keys and we split up into two groups. Land and Water.
America, Molly, Matt, and myself stayed on land to see if we could find any signs of Atlantean architecture or other evidence that the outpost had been there.
Namor, Alani, and Meggan went diving and met up with the mangrove forest's water spirit. She took them deeper into the Keys and the water, ultimately leading them to the actual ruin of the outpost.
Unsurprisingly, those of us on land didn't find anything Atlantean, so we set up for lunch. Then the alligators showed up.
My understanding is that the water spirit was fairly blasé about the ruins and Namor took offence, so then the spirit took offence. Long and the short of it is that that's why he's not allowed back in FL. However, before coming back to the beach, Namor was able to extract a chronicle or ledger or record from the ruin.
The biggest fucking alligator I have ever seen -- and pardon my non-professionalism right here, but I shit you not, that thing was huge -- popped out of the water and bit Molly. Surprised it didn't break it's teeth, honestly, but it dragged her back into the water just as fast as it came out and uh. Swallowed her?
The water spirit showed up and called the alligator off, so it threw Molly up (which sucked, she says), and then we all decided it was past time to go home.
Kyle, Sooraya, and Alison flew down in the Blackbird to get us after we rental-carred it to the best pickup spot. now we're home. Imagine I'm doing the Vanna White flourish at a wall here.
