Wormholes, Alternate Realities, & You
After combining a bunch of equipment from the Danger Room (courtesy of Kane, Kitty, & Molly), Excalibur was able to monitor the wormhole in the Chapel's subbasement. This allowed us to first recognize and then track several anomalies, which ultimately led a team comprised of Kane, Kitty, Molly, Megan, Meggan, Matt, and Alani to use more DR tech to port through the wormhole to the anomalous reality.
From this experience, we've managed to figure a few things out.
1. I need more help monitoring this thing. There's a lot of data pouring out of it now and keeping an eye on multiple anomalies at once is way more complicated than I can handle. Also, I've recently been informed self-care is a thing I need to do, so I can't keep sleeping on my cot down there. Volunteers would be much appreciated, so long as it's understood this shouldn't be a part-time thing. Having one or two more people dedicated to monitoring alone would be amazing. Preferably more, if we want eight hour shifts, but I'll take ten hour ones at this point.
2. Transitioning to other universes seems to have the ability to destabilize them further. This means jumping back and forth between our universe and the one we want to help could cause more harm than good. In an effort to minimize the potential damage that destabilization might cause, Molly's working on something very drone-like that we can control remotely. This'll let us do a fair bit of recon, as well, so we're not jumping in completely blind. It'll hopefully also let us do whatever we need to do in one go.
3. While monitoring the wormhole, we might've hacked into a couple satellites for funsies and realized - after the programs synched up - that there's a very real possibility anomalous wormholes could open in other locations on our reality's Earth. We'll need to be ready in case something happens on that front (which is a whole other part of monitoring things, guys, seriously come help, please don't make me beg any more than I already have).
4. As evidenced by the subject line of this report, we're reorganizing and reorienting Excalibur. Yay science stuff, still, but also now ~science in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace~. Or something.

Date: 2022-04-04 11:00 pm (UTC)Obviously you know I can't commit to full-time, but I can continue to do short shifts as my schedule allows. If nothing else, it can give the rest of you time to eat/shower/relax or get a short rest. And I can sit down with you and write up a quick reference guide for what sorts of spikes are within standard deviations and which are cause for alarm. That way any new people you collect will have a cheat sheet for all the science you're gonna cram into their brains.
Everyone except Clint involved in this that had gold stars has had them reset to zero. You lot also have a copy of the TWL_Safety.ppt in your emails. Consider reviewing it.
I'm glad none of you got hurt and that no universes were irreparably destabilized as a result of this little jaunt.

Date: 2022-04-06 12:29 am (UTC)Theoretically, though, I’m going with one of those paradox things where two versions of the same person can’t be in one timeline or something. Since we’ve found no evidence of April existing in our universe, it might never become an issue.

Date: 2022-04-07 08:16 am (UTC)Are we likely to become some kind of Men in Black terminal? Because I think M sounds like a great agent name.
