Mission Update

Urrgh, I hate writing these, never know if I'm doing it right or I should include everything like a scientific paper. 

But here we go, update. 

So, no surprise we ran into our missing people, and then some. Did you know Kyle has an adamantium skeleton now? If anyone manages to find the formula for this stuff lying around, I'd love you forever. 

Oh yeah and you know that Wade Wilson person? They've got him too! He was blasting away with a sniper rifle, he owes me an apology if we ever catch up with him...an we will. 

We didn't see Jessie, but the others all seem to be alive and in pretty good health, at least judging by the way they went toe to toe with us.

I gave Weapon X the finger.

Which is a pithy way to say that I almost got to the van, it tore off my nanite hand's middle finger, and those nanites temporarily integrated into the van to give us something to track.

I'd say we planned that, but it was pretty heat of the moment.

(Finger has been reconstituted, hence why I had the goddang munchies after coming home)

When you say "reconstituted" what you really mean is "the nanites replicated and gave me my middle finger back" right? Cause reconstitution is generally the gross thing where a dried up thing is introduced to water to make it puff back up. Like fingers for fingerprinting purposes.

That all the indicators match what the mansion knows about Adamantium, or at least what records I have access to.

I assume they did, but he seems to be thriving and not in any pain after it.

Does it replace his normal bones?

No, it's a plating process, not a skeleton replacement. That's part of the secret they keep, how to manipulate the liquid adamantium in the process.

Do they even bother manipulating the liquid or just remove a bone, plate it the old-fashioned way, and then put it back while counting on the healing factor to accept the bone and put it back in place?

That's part of the problem, we just don't know the details. They've failed to share the process with us.

However, judging by the reports in the records, it's injected into the body so there shouldn't be any bone removal. It's the only explanation that matches the labware we've found.

News reports and videos don't have the clearest shots of anything.

Looking at the gait from video, he definitely walks like he's got forty pounds of something added. And his fingertip claws have a similar visual...gleam? to the way yours do in sunlight.

So it may or may not be adamantium, but it's definitely -something- in the neighborhood, at least.

Okay, but what does that mean besides his nails are shiny and he can probably do more damage than he could before, which was already a lot?

Sorry, I've been in analysis mode, not reassure mode. It's sort of speculative, but all the details seem to point that way, given that it's y'know, Weapon X and they did this shit to Logan before.

So I gathered. Again, though - what does that mean. Is it going to impact his health? Will it mean he's benched from the team? Does it indicate anything about what they're planning? How they intend to use him as an asset?

No-one is talking about benching anyone from the team right now. We keep Logan around and he's had Adamantium for decades now.

Kyle's tough and he's a fighter, if there's anyone who can handle this he can. But let's focus on the most important task, bringing him home. Then we can deal with any issues that exist. Outside of weapon X we have the most capable team when it comes to dealing with Adamantium.

I don't want to speculate on what this means operationally, we're still making plans to engage them, but if you want to see me in my office I can walk you through what I can.

Honestly, I don't know what it means. Logan's our resident expert on what having metal bonded to one's skeleton does to their body?

If it's adamantium, we got issues. Though, vibranium's been blowing up the black markets recently.

Yeah, it's getting ridiculously expensive, lost a project at work cause of hte prices. I'm not sure how well that would work as a skeleton bonding...but now that's a nightmare I'm going to have to look into.

Not that Shaw is likely talking to us right now with the PR nightmare he's dealing with, but he'd be the best to talk to about energy absorption and transference.

Maybe we can call in some favors and see what intel SHIELD has on it too, considering they've got Cap's shield floating around.

Clint might be best to call in a favour with Shield, I'm pretty sure Fury still seems me as the annoying kid hanging around my dad...to be fair cause I am.

Think the owing side is switched here. We owe him more than he does us, especially with the attack being all over the news. He and Frost are going to be doing damage control for months.

Logan is correct.

Since Emma Frost lies unconscious and this debacle was as public as the footage suggests, then Sebastian Shaw has just been handed something exceedingly rare: public legitimacy.

The White Court exposed weakness first. Shaw merely has the good fortune to answer it.

I suspect the Hellfire Court is about to enter a darker age. It would be idiotic not to employ every available cruelty in response, and the Sebastian Shaw I have seen in Hellfire courts has never suffered from idiocy.

With no one leading that viper's nest, Shaw's got some truly easy pickings before him. I would not want to be standing in his way.

Can it really be a Hellfire Court if one side can barely be considered an opponent?

Yeah, I've already been in touch with my contacts in SHIELD and SWORD. Kane's got a better relationship with SWORD than I do, these days, but SHIELD's only promised assistance with infil and exfil, no information on scientific research re: adamantium or vibranium or the alloy of the two that would literally make me chop off both my legs just to handle. I mean, a boy can dream -- but I don't think SHIELD or SWORD are going to be much help from the science angle. At least not at the moment.
