But do we have any video of the attack? Adrienne, maybe send your people to local businesses, see if they have some footage? It's worth trying to crack down. I can't touch it from my position, but if mutants have become an easy target, we should be pushing back.

Man, at his age, I was trying to get Linda Grange to let me into her underwear. I can't fault him for angry response.

Yes, yes we can, because as far as I know questioning what happened is how we actually get facts.

If someone doesn't take risks to protect individuals, who the hell is going to live at your super secret safe haven mansion? Everyone who could use the place would be dead. I'm not saying Sooraya or the kids should take those risks- you know my position on the Xavier Children's Crusade- but not telling people who could be willing to take the risks that a situation even arose isn't right in my books, either.

You don't know how fast things were happening, or how much time Sooraya had to try and wrangle the kids and Quire. It's all should have beens now, any way - she did what she thought was right and unless you've got a secret time-travel power, none of us can change that.

And as far as protecting individuals is concerned, you have to balance things. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the individual, no matter how much they're going to suffer, to save the many. I've seen that first-hand, and while it's fucking cold-blooded, it's how things are, at least for now. Since M-Day, we don't have the luxury of being heroes.

Actually, with my powers, I do know how fast things were happening. But thanks for trying to belittle or shame me or whatever that was.

And it's cute you think you speak for the entire population here, but really what you're doing is imposing a choice of inaction on all of us and not allowing anyone here to decide for themselves whether they want to be heroes or not. A choice people might have been able to make for themselves if anyone else had known what was going on.

I wasn't trying to belittle you, Adri. I didn't realise you'd been out there and done your thing.

And aren't you doing the same thing as Quire? Blaming someone for not acting? Even if Sooraya had called in, how the hell would anyone have gotten into District X in time to actually do anything?

And since when the bloody hell did I speak for anyone but me? I have zero influence on anyone here, and if I have any ability to impose my will on people, then my first imposition would be to get my kids showing up to class on time. All I'm saying is that there's a bigger picture than just this one person and it's something we have to consider when we do anything that might draw attention to us. But the fact I think this way and you don't probably explains why I'm with the Trenchcoats and you're with the PI agency. Different focus and different philosophies.

I'm not blaming anyone for not acting. Fuck, I wouldn't have gone in there for all the Jimmy Choos in the world. All I'm saying is no one can even make that choice for themselves if no one knows about it. Maybe no one would have gotten there in time, but maybe a teleporter would have, maybe an XFI contact was in the area, maybe, maybe. At the very least we would have known about it sooner than twenty-four hours later and maybe we could have done some damage control and we'd all be feeling a little more organized and responsible right now, instead of scrambling to catch up and having it look like we're only acting because a My Little Pony is basically repeatedly bitchslapping us all.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. *wry* We need to work on our procedures, obviously, and perhaps the teams get used to working together more. We've been separated for a while.

Truce? I'll head down to DX and see if I can find anyone willing to talk to me about it. I'm a bit of a regular, so they won't think I'm a narc, at least.

Obviously, yes.

No, because truce implies we were fighting, and we're on the same side, so that's not what we were doing, so we don't need one. Let's just buy each other a pint, huh?

You were able to get a read off the area? What did you find out?

Working on a report now. Short of it is a visible mutant was selling fake stuff to the crowd at the fair or whatever it was. A few cops started wailing on him. The Pony mentioned something about 'flatscans' and burning in hell, but then he fell over with a bloody nose. Cops hauled the mutant off.
