But do we have any video of the attack? Adrienne, maybe send your people to local businesses, see if they have some footage? It's worth trying to crack down. I can't touch it from my position, but if mutants have become an easy target, we should be pushing back.
Man, at his age, I was trying to get Linda Grange to let me into her underwear. I can't fault him for angry response.

Date: 2015-07-07 05:30 am (UTC)I can also go caress some walls tomorrow in between meetings to get a better picture, because I still can't puzzle out what exactly this guy's problem is. A group of mansionites saw a guy get beat up by 'armed men', but a chaperone wouldn't let them help? Even though My Little Pony there is legally an adult and the guy clearly needed help? I don't really get it, and I think having the whole story might help dampen my urge to kill everyone.

Date: 2015-07-07 06:28 pm (UTC)And Ms. Frost, I had two young students, a walking wounded (Quentin tried to blast them with his mind and it ended with Topaz having to drag him out) in an upset crowd and an explosive situation with cops involved. If I had been alone or even with Topaz maybe, I could have done something...

Date: 2015-07-08 02:39 pm (UTC)And this isn't just about the one bloke, shitty as it was. It's not even about keeping the kids who were there safe. It's about keeping the mansion safe - our students and teachers wind up on the news in the middle of a cop-mutant brawl, do you think people are going to keep turning a blind eye to us here? You and I and the rest of the adults have the resources to manage out there alone, but there's plenty who can't. That's why we have this place at all.
So instead of giving Sooraya crap about what she should have done, let's focus on the NYPD and what we can do now about them. Bobbi, you up for using your old police contacts to sniff out how bad the rot goes?

Date: 2015-07-08 02:57 pm (UTC)If someone doesn't take risks to protect individuals, who the hell is going to live at your super secret safe haven mansion? Everyone who could use the place would be dead. I'm not saying Sooraya or the kids should take those risks- you know my position on the Xavier Children's Crusade- but not telling people who could be willing to take the risks that a situation even arose isn't right in my books, either.

Date: 2015-07-08 03:06 pm (UTC)And as far as protecting individuals is concerned, you have to balance things. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the individual, no matter how much they're going to suffer, to save the many. I've seen that first-hand, and while it's fucking cold-blooded, it's how things are, at least for now. Since M-Day, we don't have the luxury of being heroes.

Date: 2015-07-08 03:11 pm (UTC)And it's cute you think you speak for the entire population here, but really what you're doing is imposing a choice of inaction on all of us and not allowing anyone here to decide for themselves whether they want to be heroes or not. A choice people might have been able to make for themselves if anyone else had known what was going on.

Date: 2015-07-08 03:20 pm (UTC)And aren't you doing the same thing as Quire? Blaming someone for not acting? Even if Sooraya had called in, how the hell would anyone have gotten into District X in time to actually do anything?
And since when the bloody hell did I speak for anyone but me? I have zero influence on anyone here, and if I have any ability to impose my will on people, then my first imposition would be to get my kids showing up to class on time. All I'm saying is that there's a bigger picture than just this one person and it's something we have to consider when we do anything that might draw attention to us. But the fact I think this way and you don't probably explains why I'm with the Trenchcoats and you're with the PI agency. Different focus and different philosophies.

Date: 2015-07-08 04:30 pm (UTC)Truce? I'll head down to DX and see if I can find anyone willing to talk to me about it. I'm a bit of a regular, so they won't think I'm a narc, at least.

Date: 2015-07-08 04:38 pm (UTC)No, because truce implies we were fighting, and we're on the same side, so that's not what we were doing, so we don't need one. Let's just buy each other a pint, huh?

Date: 2015-07-08 09:27 am (UTC)At the very least we can all go over it and figure out best and worst case scenarios for handling things in the future and possibly get the mentors to do some training with the children.
I have a feeling with the current climate we may face the same situation you did sooner then we might like.

Date: 2015-07-08 03:34 pm (UTC)What we need is to find out who the victim was, who the officers were and what's happened between the incident and now. If the guy is in lock-up or a hospital somewhere, we can help him directly get the care he needs. If we have any video that can be used to identify the officers, we can drop it in the hands of Internal Investigations and the Daily Bugle. That should be enough to demand some kind of official investigation.
This could be the tip of a systematic use of abuse. It could be a one-time fuckup. It could even be that our bootleg DVD friend has a long history of selling heroin and attacking cops. Information is what we need now.
